Lex Sherman, founder of Travel Eat

Hey, I'm Lex.

I built Travel Eat because I kept ending up in restaurants where the only choice I knew was Vegan Burger (in the best case).

Google Translate gets you partway there, but it doesn't understand food. It translates words, not dishes. The worst case is when there's no description of each dish's ingredients and you're stuck googling every item one by one, only to end up picking the "safest" option.

Travel Eat is different — it tells you what each dish actually is, what it's made of (or potentially made of), and whether it matches your dietary needs. It shows images of each dish and filters automatically by your dietary restrictions. You can expand any ingredient to see a photo and a short description. 50+ languages, works offline, and keeps your scan history.

That's it. No social features, no restaurant reviews — just a tool that helps you eat well when you can't read the menu.

50+ Languages

From Japanese to Georgian, Thai to Arabic. If there's a menu in it, we probably translate it.

Understands Food

Not literal word-for-word translation. The app knows what dishes are and explains them in plain language.

Dietary Filters

Vegan, gluten-free, nut allergy — set your restrictions and the app flags what's safe.
